I am such a long coat lover. Long trench coats, fur coats, and long puffers you name it. I love how cozy they are and think they’re a classic look. However, I’m barely 5 ft 2, lol! Long coats can make us shorties look frumpy and even smaller but if styled right, I think we can pull them off!
I think the main key to avoid drowning in your coat is to wear fitted clothes underneath. My go-to is a tight turtle neck top, jeans, and a pair of booties or elegant loafers. So basically anything form fitting. Wearing a thick sweater and baggy jeans for example, under a long coat just adds extra bulk and doesn’t show your natural size. I also love the look of skirts and tights paired with longer coats. The combo can be perfect for work or whenever you need to dress up a bit. Lastly, a little heel (my fav is a block heel) can do wonders when styling longer coats. They obviously accentuate the length of your legs so you don’t appear quite as short. Don’t get me wrong, I actually love being short! But I do take my height into account when choosing what and what not to wear!
